How to find a file inside a Linux System (find command)


If  you want to search a file inside a Linux System use the following command with the usage given;

For instance if you want to learn the Apache Tomcat’s location you should try;

syntax –>  find /directory -name filename

linuxserver:~ # find / -name apache

the command above will search all files containing apache text starting from / root directory

second example

[root@localhost ~]# find /usr -name oracle
/usr/lib/oracle
/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle
/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/oracle
